    DRAKE UNIVERSITY LAW SCHOOL invites applicants from entry level and lateral candidates for a tenure-track, tenured, or long-term contract faculty position to direct the Entrepreneurial and Transactional Clinic beginning in the 2025-2026 academic year.

    The Entrepreneurial and Transactional Clinic is a pillar of Drake’s business law program and has launched the careers of many alumni who now serve as innovators, leaders, and trusted advisors in practice. The Entrepreneurial and Transactional Clinic currently provides legal assistance to business startups, entrepreneurs, and community nonprofit organizations to help them establish successful for profit and nonprofit enterprises. The clinic targets entrepreneurs and innovators located in underserved Des Moines neighborhoods and rural Iowa communities who are not able to afford retained legal counsel. Candidates are welcome to reimagine the scope of the clinic to align with their teaching goals. 

    The Director’s duties include supervising and advising students in the direct representation of clients. Other responsibilities include the following: docket selection and clinic design; supervision and assessment; teaching a weekly skills development seminar for clinic students; engaging in community education; and managing external grants.

    Candidates must possess a J.D. or comparable law degree and be admitted, or able to satisfy the requirements for admission, to the Iowa Bar. An exceptional academic record, distinguished record of clinical teaching or extensive practice-related experience, a demonstrated capacity for excellence in teaching, supervision and assessment, and service is preferred. At least three years of practice experience is required.

    The position begins July 1, 2025, and will be a twelve-month appointment. Clinical faculty appointed on the tenure-track have a reduced scholarship requirement and the same rights and responsibilities of other full-time faculty, but with an emphasis on clinical teaching, professional competence and activity, research and creative work, and University and public service.

    Major/Essential Job Functions:

    Maintains a regular caseload and provides backup on caseloads of law students who are not available or are unable to complete specific assignments or who graduate;

    Administers the annual operating budget for the Veteran’s Law Clinic;

    Pursues and administers grant funding in cooperation with the Law School’s Budget Office and Dean’s Office;

    Faculty Required Qualifications:

    1. Holds a JD or equivalent from an ABA accredited law school;

    2. Member in good standing of the State Bar of Texas or eligible for admission without examination;

    3. Demonstrated excellence in legal research and writing skills;

    4. Strong communication skills and ability to interact effectively with various audiences, including clients, students, staff, faculty, court and agency staff, and the public;

    5. Exhibits proficiency and commitment to providing quality representation to clients;

    6. Ability to independently manage a caseload and quickly assume responsibilities;

    7. Commitment to teaching and supervising law students in a clinical setting;

    8. Familiarity with legal issues facing veterans and their families;

    9. Substantial law practice experience with at least three years related to legal issues facing veterans.

    THE UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA SCHOOL OF LAW's Wilbanks Child Endangerment and Sexual Exploitation (CEASE) Clinic is hiring two Post-Graduate Legal Fellows. Both positions are one-year positions.

    CEASE is seeking one Fellow to work in their Athens, Georgia office and one Fellow to help build CEASE’s practice in the Savannah, Georgia area. Both Fellow positions are one-year appointments. The Savannah Fellow position is grant-funded and may be extended for longer than one year, depending on continuation of grant funding and job performance. Some travel for court and other clinic-related work will be required.

    Job Description

    Legal Services

    • The Fellows will represent survivors of child sexual abuse, exploitation, and trafficking across the sexual abuse-to-prison pipeline in a variety of civil, juvenile dependency, and post-conviction matters.
    • The Fellows will serve as client-directed attorney for children under 21 involved in Juvenile Court foster care dependency proceedings and who are participants in—or eligible to participate in—the state’s first and only treatment court for survivors of child trafficking.
    • The Fellows will also represent survivors in post-conviction vacatur and record restriction cases involving convictions directly resulting from or occurring during trafficking victimization, as well as in civil claims against perpetrators of child sexual abuse, exploitation, and trafficking.
    • As part of the University of Georgia’s mission to prepare law students for practice, the Fellows will supervise law students in providing legal services. The Fellow will work under the supervision of the CEASE Staff Attorney and Director. The Fellows are responsible for working together with the Staff Attorney and Clinic Director to ensure the effective management of CEASE’s legal practice. The Fellows will also work closely with the CEASE Clinic’s Social Work Advocate to ensure intensive case management services for clients in the area.

    Community Outreach & Education

    • The Fellows will be charged with building community relationships and networks through outreach, education, and other initiatives. Community outreach and education includes, but is not limited to, representing CEASE on anti-trafficking multidisciplinary teams; referring survivors to community-based services; collaborating with victim-services providers, placements, and other community members and organizations working with survivors; building a pro bono network of referral attorneys to increase post-conviction relief legal services; and developing and conducting trainings for attorneys and other advocates working with survivors.

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Competencies

    • Strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks, work independently, and seek guidance when appropriate.
    • Advocacy skills, excellent writing skills, and experience working with varying and vulnerable clients.
    • Applicant must be a current member in good standing of the Georgia Bar, or sitting for the July 2024 Georgia Bar Exam. Continuation of employment dependent is on bar passage.
    • Start date for Savannah Fellow is ASAP, but no later than September 1, 2024.
    • Start date for Athens Fellow is September 1, 2024.

    TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF LAW invites applications for a non-tenure track Lecturer position to establish a criminal defense clinic as the Justice Reform Foundation Practitioner-in-Residence. This is a full-time 11-month position. The anticipated start date is August 1, 2024.

    The Justice Reform Foundation Practitioner-in-Residence will practice law, work with other clinic attorneys, and teach and supervise law clinic students in representing low-income clients in criminal defense cases in Tarrant County, Texas, and surrounding counties.

    -Train and supervise law students to provide excellent legal representation.

    TEXAS A&M SCHOOL OF LAW seeks a staff attorney to work with its Medical Legal Partnership. The attorney will be responsible for practicing law and helping the Medical Legal Partnership Director supervise students who work on a variety of legal matters, primarily on guardianship, probate, estate planning, and SSI cases.  The MLP Staff Attorney may engage in classroom teaching, as needed, but not as a primary task for this position.  The MLP Staff Attorney will assist in the management of cases and marketing of the MLP program.

    Required Education and Experience:

    · Juris Doctorate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

    ·  Five years of experience in civil law practice with familiarity of law relating to guardianships and SSI.

    Required Licenses and Certifications:

    ·  Licensed by the State Bar of Texas for 5 years minimum.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    ·  Ability to mentor and supervise law students; assign tasks and provide feedback on their performance.

    ·   Skills and experience navigating relevant technology, including social media platforms and word processing software.

Attends court with students and being present at hearings where students appear. Reviews, provides feedback, edits, and approves all letters, emails, documents, trial notebooks, and other work product produced by students. Advises students in all aspects of cases (strategy, research, investigations, drafting, preparing for trial, conducting hearings, etc.). Helps students manage client relationships and ensures students properly document work done in physical case files and law practice management systems. Enters time weekly and closing out cases in a timely manner. Meets with students weekly to discuss case status and strategy. Assists or covers for other supervising attorney’s clients or students when needed. Work on cases without student assistance when students are not available.

    ·  ADMINISTRATIVE: Contributes data and information to compile and timely complete reports for MLP funders and partners. Collaborates with the law school’s marketing team to promote the Law Clinic and MLP to students and general public by through social media and newsletters. Attends CLE conferences and events, including statewide conferences for SSI, guardianship, probate, estate planning, and poverty law, as funding permits. Participates in the AALS New Clinicians Conference and other conferences deemed necessary or helpful to execute duties. Provides other administrative support, as needed.

    ·  INSTRUCTION: Co-teaches the classroom component, when needed, and may be asked to develop teaching materials. Treats students with respect and models professional and ethical behavior that upholds and enhances the reputation of the Law Clinic, MLP, the law school, and clinical program.

    CASE WESTERN RESERVE UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF LAW invites applications for a full-time Lecturer/Staff Attorney position beginning July 2024. This is a 12-month grant-funded position with a 12-month renewal possibility. 

    Case Western Reserve University School of Law has a dynamic and nationally recognized Experiential Education curriculum. The highly regarded Milton and Charlotte Kramer Law Clinic forms part of this curriculum. The Second Chance Reentry Clinic represents individuals facing legal barriers as a result of their criminal records. The Clinic’s cases sit at the intersection of the civil and criminal justice systems and tackle issues related to mass incarceration, prisoner reentry, and the collateral consequences of criminal convictions. The successful candidate can expect to handle cases in a variety of legal settings, including state court and administrative agencies and may participate in policy advocacy. 

    We seek candidates with distinguished academic records, extensive practice experience and experience teaching or supervising students in a legal setting. Successful candidates should have a strong commitment to representing formerly incarcerated individuals and a strong commitment to teaching.  The Second Chance Reentry Law Clinic was created by a partnership between the Case Western Reserve University School of Law and the Cuyahoga County Office of Reentry. The project was designed to help remove barriers to individuals returning from incarceration. The primary role of the Staff Attorney/Lecturer is to engage in direct client representation and to provide supervision and training for law students who will directly represent clients referred to the Clinic from the Cuyahoga County Office of Reentry, among other locations. The successful candidate will engage in activities that include, but are not limited to, the following:

    ·         Provide direct representation to qualified clients referred through the Office of Reentry and other agencies in civil, criminal and administrative proceedings. Areas of representation include but are not limited to: Expungement – Criminal and Evictions, CQE & CAE, Outstanding Warrants, Driver’s License Reinstatements, Court Debt, Child Support Modification, Consumer Credit & Debit, and Public Benefits. 

    ·         Create and deliver Brief Advice Expungement Clinics in the Cleveland Metropolitan Area. 

    ·         Provide supervision and training for law students enrolled in the Second Chance Reentry Clinic.

    The Lecturer/Staff Attorney will join the Kramer Law Clinic faculty and will work with the Director of the Kramer Law Clinic and the Kramer Law Clinic Managing Attorney.

    LOYOLA UNIVERSITY CHICAGO SCHOOL OF LAW is seeking applications for the Salisbury Clinical Fellowship in Child and Family Law. Loyola’s ChildLaw program is offering this two-year Fellowship, to commence in July of 2024. The Fellowship will provide a unique opportunity for a recent law school graduate to gain experience in both clinical law teaching and litigation in the field of child law. The Clinical Fellow will work closely with the ChildLaw Clinic Faculty, assisting in the representation of clients, the supervision of students, and the development of course curriculum.

    The Salisbury Fellow will share responsibility with the Clinic Director and Associate Director for the ChildLaw Clinic. The Clinic affords representation to child clients, primarily in the areas of child protection and child custody. The Fellow will assist with the supervision of law students in their representation of clinic clients. The Fellow will be expected to assist with all levels of client representation, including pre-trial, trial and appellate proceedings. The Fellow will also participate in the development of the course curriculum and the teaching of a weekly seminar, focused on ethical and substantive issues arising in the representation of child clients, skills training, and the discussion of current clinic cases. The Fellow will be encouraged to develop independent areas of interest, consistent with the mission of the ChildLaw Clinic.

    Criteria for Selection: Priority will be given to recent law school graduates who have a demonstrated interest in the field of child and family law and an interest in pursuing a career in clinical law teaching. Candidates with at least two years of practice experience are preferred. Admission or eligibility for admission to the Illinois bar by July 1, 2024, is required. (Out-of-state applicants should review Illinois Supreme Court Rule 717 for special admission criteria applicable to legal service program lawyers.)

    The Veterans Advocacy Law Clinic (VALC) at the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law seeks applicants for the position of Staff Attorney. The VALC provides pro bono legal services to U.S. military veterans and service members by representing them in veterans treatment courts, on VA disability benefits compensation cases, and on discharge upgrade and correction of military records cases. The Clinic also helps veterans and their family members through its robust Intake and Referral Program and by engaging in special projects and community outreach. Many of the veterans and service members it assists have physical and mental health challenges and/or substance use issues, some of which were caused directly or indirectly by their military service. Thus, much of the Clinic's work relates to addressing the intersection of these issues and legal needs. The VALC is a semester long, for-credit law clinic in which law students, under the supervision of clinic faculty, are the primary attorneys. The Clinic also works with a University of Arizona undergraduate student who is placed in the Clinic as an intern, for credit.

    The Staff Attorney’s primary role will be supervising students in veterans treatment court and on benefits, discharge upgrade, and correction of military records cases and, relatedly, assisting in case management. During the summer, the Staff Attorney will assist in representing clients in veterans treatment courts, with or without students. The Staff Attorney may also assist in the supervision of the undergraduate student, who typically acts as the Intake and Referral Program Coordinator. The Staff Attorney may also assist in special projects, such as an amicus brief or pop-up legal clinics at the VA, and engage in community outreach.

    THE GEORGE WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY LAW SCHOOL seeks a Visiting Associate Professor of Clinical Law to direct and teach its Small Business and Community Economic Development Clinic, one of 19 clinical programs at the Jacob Burns Community Legal Clinics. The Clinic has a long and impressive history as the legacy of the late Professor Susan Jones

    This semester-long clinic provides legal assistance and representation to small businesses, microbusinesses, social enterprises, nonprofits, worker cooperatives, artists and creatives. In the weekly 2-hour seminar and through case work, students learn about and consider substantive business law, social entrepreneurship, community economic development, and the role of small businesses in providing economic opportunity for under-capitalized an under-represented entrepreneurs. Students also participate in law and policy action research.

    Specific Duties and Responsibilities:  The Clinic Director develop the docket, adapt the academic curriculum as necessary, teach the two-hour/week seminar class, and supervise students in their legal work. In the summers and between semesters, the Clinic Director will be responsible for handling any pending legal matters.

    Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must possess a J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school or an equivalent degree and have relevant experience. Applicants must have an outstanding academic record, excellent legal research and writing skills, and prior experience practicing and/or teaching transactional law. Applicants must have three or more years of practice experience. Applicants must be active bar members in good standing of at least one U.S. state or D.C., and/or must be willing and able to gain admission to the Bar of the District of Columbia.

    Advertised Salary: Salary will be commensurate with experience.
