Small group discussion sessions:

Small group discussions are the hallmark of CLEA’s New Clinicians Conference.  Small groups provide an opportunity for clinicians to develop lasting relationships with others new to clinical teaching and to work through pedagogical issues unique to clinical courses with the guidance and support of experienced clinicians. To facilitate trust-building and provide the opportunity for deep discussion of topics throughout the day, we ask conference attendees to commit to attend all small group meetings during the conference. You will be notified approximately one week prior to the conference of your small group session assignments.

Want to grab a meal with other clinicians?

The New Clinicians Committee will be organizing small group dinner meetups for the evening of April 27th after the opening reception for the AALS Clinical Conference concludes. We hope this will be a fun way to meet clinicians from across the country and build community. Please note you will be responsible for the cost of the dinner. Conference attendees will receive an email with updates on participating.

Scholarships

CLEA will provide a very limited number of scholarships to attend the NCC. Scholarships will cover registration and/or up to the cost of one night’s hotel on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at the AALS Conference hotel. The scholarship application for 2023 has now closed.

Covid & Masking

CLEA will follow the CDC, the city of San Francisco, and the State of California regarding vaccination and masking requirements during the conference.

We strongly encourage all participants, including presenters and attendees,  to take the following additional precautions:

  • COVID-19 Vaccinations: For everyone’s comfort, safety, and confidence in returning to an in-person environment, CLEA strongly encourages all conference participants to be fully vaccinated and up to date (as defined by the CDC). We strongly encourage attendees who are eligible to receive their COVID-19 booster prior to attending the conference.
  • COVID-19 Testing: CLEA strongly encourages participants to test for COVID-19 prior to traveling to the conference. Attendees who test positive should stay home and cancel your registration. If you are on-site and test positive for COVID-19, please contact CLEA NCC co-chairs Gowri Krishna and Praveen Kosouri at gowri.krishna@nyls.edu and pkosuri@law.upenn.edu. We also encourage you to test for COVID-19 after you return home from your trip.
  • Masks: All participants at the conference are strongly encouraged to wear masks with at least 3 layers (KN95, KF94, or N95) in all meeting event spaces, except while presenting on stage or at podium or actively eating/drinking. Masks should cover both the mouth and nose. Please honor any requests from your fellow attendees to mask up and/or maintain physical distancing. See the CDC section on face coverings and masks, including COVID-19 Community Levels.

Registrants for the conference will receive an email the week of April 17th with final details for the conference and information on how to access conference materials. For now, please SAVE THE DATE (April 27, 2023) and do not hesitate to contact CLEA NCC co-chairs Gowri Krishna and Praveen Kosouri at gowri.krishna@nyls.edu and pkosuri@law.upenn.edu if you have any questions.
