    THE UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS SCHOOL OF LAW is pleased to announce that it is currently seeking applicants for an assistant or associate professor for the 2025-2026 academic year to teach the Criminal Practice Clinic. A successful applicant must be willing to teach in person for the designated period. 

    The clinical professor will be expected to teach the Criminal Practice Clinic each semester. The responsibilities include supervision of student work, teaching the weekly clinic seminar, and managing the clinic’s docket. At least two years of clinical teaching experience is strongly preferred. Must be a licensed attorney eligible to practice law in the state.

    A candidate must have a J.D. degree from an ABA accredited law school and a commitment to teaching in an environment dedicated to excellence in teaching and mentoring of students.     THE BELMONT UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF LAW invites applications for a full-time faculty position to serve as the Director of Field Placements to begin in Fall of 2025.

    In consultation with the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, the candidate can choose to join the faculty as an Assistant Professor of Law on tenure track or as an Assistant Professor of Legal Practice. The Director of Field Placements will be responsible for supervising and managing students participating in field placements and summer externships at local, regional, and national sites as part of Belmont Law’s Experiential Learning Program. The Director will be responsible for applicable instruction and curriculum development, site partner relationships, as well as management of all other aspects of administering the program in compliance with ABA Standards. This position will be a twelve-month appointment.

    The Center for Advocacy & Dispute Resolution was established with a commitment to providing unparalleled training to law students, offering numerous simulation-based courses and a Concentration in Advocacy & Dispute Resolution. 

    The Director of the Center for Advocacy & Dispute Resolution will have a 12-month appointment and will report directly to the Dean. The Director will play a critical role in preserving the core components of the Center’s curriculum and programs and in developing and executing an ambitious and innovative vision for the Center’s future.

    The selected Director candidate will also have an academic appointment appropriate to the candidate’s qualifications.

    Qualifications

    Candidates must hold a J.D. or equivalent law degree at the time of application and have an impressive record of experience in the areas of advocacy and/or dispute resolution, whether as a lawyer, judge, or law teacher.

    THE UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN LAW SCHOOL is seeking applications for a newly created full-time Program Director position in the MDefenders program. MDefenders is a program designed to provide education and support for current students considering careers in indigent defense as well as support and assistance to alumni who work as public defenders. The MDefenders program is an umbrella organization responsible for overseeing a faculty-sponsored student group for aspiring public defense students, an active alumni listserv with more than 300 members, the Public Defender Training Institute, and the Data for Defenders project. The Program Director will help to implement MDefenders's projects and will work closely with the Founder and Faculty Director to plan additional initiatives that align with the overall mission of the group to provide support for and grow interest in indigent defense work. The Program Director will also teach relevant courses on indigent defense representation to current MDefenders students and will provide counseling and advice to current aspiring public defenders on career paths.

    The appointment will be for two years with the possibility of renewal based on satisfactory performance and the availability of funding.

    Responsibilities*

    Administrative Responsibilities:

    • Oversight and development of MDefenders' Data for Defenders project including:

    o   Outreach to public defender offices and organizations to expand the program's partners and its reach and impact

    o   Social science research and drafting of motions to include in the database

    • Oversight and development of Alumni Development Program including:

    o   Creating and overseeing an alumni mentorship program for Michigan Law graduates who go into indigent defense 

    o   Maintaining alumni connections through alumni reunions and crafting monthly newsletters 

    • Advising students on indigent defense careers paths and providing substantive support to them in the application process
    • Coordinating with the Office of Career Planning and the Office of Development and Alumni Relations 
    • Coordinating activities with the MDefenders student group
    • Thinking creatively about new initiatives and helping to implement them. Examples may include creating a toolkit to enable other law schools to create programs similar to the MDefenders program or making Public Defender Training Institute programming available to entry-level attorneys through CLE programs. 

    Teaching Responsibilities:

    • Teaching advocacy-related courses that will depend on the particular skills and background of the candidate and may include teaching in the Trial-Level Public Defender Training Institute and/or creating and teaching in an Appellate Defender Training Institute

    GEORGETOWN LAW seeks fellowship applicants for the Social Enterprise & Nonprofit Law Clinic which offers pro bono organizational and transactional legal services to social enterprises, nonprofit organizations, worker cooperatives, and select small businesses headquartered in Washington, D.C. and working locally or internationally. Through the Clinic, law students learn to translate legal theory into legal practice by engaging in the supervised practice of law for educational credit.

    The Clinic’s local focus not only allows the Clinic to give back to the community it calls home, but also gives students an opportunity to explore and understand the challenges and strengths of the D.C. community beyond the Georgetown Law campus. As D.C. experiences increasing income inequality, it becomes increasingly important for the Clinic to provide legal assistance to organizations that serve and empower adversely impacted communities.

    Description of Fellowship

    The two-year fellowship is an ideal position for a transactional lawyer interested in transitioning into legal academia and developing teaching and supervisory abilities in a setting that emphasizes a dual commitment—clinical education of law students and transactional law employed in the public interest. The fellow will have several areas of responsibility, with an increasing role as the fellowship progresses. Over the course of the fellowship, the fellow will: (i) supervise students in representing organizations on transactional, operational, and corporate governance matters, (ii) share responsibility for teaching seminar sessions, and (iii) share in the administrative and case handling responsibilities of the Clinic. Fellows also participate in a clinical pedagogy seminar and other activities designed to support an interest in clinical teaching and legal education. Successful completion of the fellowship results in the award of an L.L.M. in Advocacy from Georgetown University. The fellowship start date is July 1, 2025, and the fellowship is for two years, ending June 30, 2027.

    Teaching fellows receive an annual stipend of approximately $70,000 in the first year and $75,000 in the second year, health and dental benefits, and all tuition and fees in the LL.M. program. As full-time students, teaching fellows qualify for deferment of their student loans. In addition, teaching fellows may be eligible for loan repayment assistance from their law schools.

    Qualifications

    Applicants must have at least 2 years of post J.D. legal experience. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in a transactional area of practice such as nonprofit law and tax, community economic development law, corporate law, intellectual property, and real estate or housing law. Applicants with a strong commitment to economic justice are encouraged to apply. Applicants must be admitted or be able to be admitted to the District of Columbia Bar within 6 months of entering the fellowship.

    SUFFOLK LAW is hiring a Director to lead our newly created Online Dispute Resolution Clinic. The Director will lead our students in designing, building, and creating an ODR process accessible to low-income litigants in divorce cases in Massachusetts, who traditionally have not had access to ODR tools.  You can read more about the initiative here and here.  The Director will work in close coordination with faculty in our Legal Innovation and Technology Center, Family Law Clinic, and Dispute Resolution Program, as well as with experts from the American Arbitration Association, to design and build the clinic’s curriculum and develop the ODR project from the ground up.     THE UNIVERSITY OF DAYTON SCHOOL OF LAW invites applications for two Assistant Professor of Lawyering Skills. These are non-tenure track positions with an initial appointment of one year and the possibility of renewal for long-term (three or five-year) appointments.

    The faculty member would join a team of experienced full-time faculty members who make up the School of Law’s Legal Profession Program.  Responsibilities include:

            Teaching Legal Profession I and II, and other legal research and writing courses related to legal reasoning and critical reading;

            Providing service to the School of Law and the University, and

            Participating in the larger community for legal research and writing professionals through regular attendance or presentations at conferences and other relevant endeavors to support the faculty member’s professional development.

    UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA COLLEGE OF LAW, SAN FRANCISCO (“UC Law SF,” formerly, “UC Hastings”), located in downtown San Francisco, seeks applicants for a contract (non-tenure-track) faculty role. This full-time faculty position is situated within the law school’s innovative, faculty-led Office for Academic Skills Instruction and Support (OASIS) and provides dedicated academic and bar skills instruction and support to students in the Legal Education Opportunity Program (LEOP). LEOP was created by the UC Law SF faculty in 1969 to make legal education accessible to students who have overcome adversity. This acclaimed program, which is unique among University of California-affiliated law schools, supports about 20 percent of our JD students.

    This position reports to the Associate Dean for OASIS on co-curricular and academic skills and programming matters. The faculty member in this role coordinates closely with the Assistant Dean for LEOP and the Director of Bar Passage Support, as well. The role includes oversight and administration of co-curricular academic skills and bar support programming for LEOP students and teaching.

    The position is full-time. Contract lengths for Professors of Practice are 1-5 years and may be renewed. The faculty rank is Lecturer, with a Professor of Practice working title (or Associate Professor of Practice for persons with fewer than five years of full-time teaching experience). The start date is July 1, 2025, or sooner, depending on the chosen candidate’s availability.

    This is a year-round position. The Professor of Practice is obligated to teach for-credit classes only during the fall and spring but is responsible for working on LEOP skills support program development, bar support for recent LEOP graduates, and other non-teaching matters year-round, including the summer months.

    Interested candidates must have the following qualifications:

    • JD degree.
    • Bar membership.
    • At least 3 years of practice or teaching experience.
    • Capacity to implement academic support programming, train and manage teaching assistants and provide feedback on written legal analysis and other skills tested in law school classes and on the bar exam.
    • Demonstrated ability to support students who have overcome disadvantage.
    • Cross cultural competency, including the ability to connect with diverse and first generation students.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.

    Prior teaching experience is strongly preferred.

    The anticipated starting base compensation range is $99,275 - $109,725, depending on prior teaching experience. The role also includes a faculty development account.     FORDHAM UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF LAW invites applications for a full-time tenure, tenure-track, or long-term contract faculty position to direct our Entrepreneurial Law Clinic.  The faculty member will join a vibrant clinical program that has 15 full-time clinicians who teach, practice, and lead. We welcome interest both from those new to clinical legal teaching and from experienced clinicians; an appointment could be made to Associate Clinical Professor, Associate Professor, Clinical Professor, or Professor.

    We seek dynamic candidates who are excited about clinical legal education, deeply committed to the academic enterprise, and able to collaborate with diverse groups inside and outside our university. We also welcome candidates who possess the capacity and inclination to support and advance law reform.  Commitment to principles of experiential learning and clinical pedagogy is central to the position; those who are not already conversant with these principles should be committed to developing in this domain.  The faculty member will have primary responsibility teaching and supervising students in the Entrepreneurial Clinic at our in-house law firm (Lincoln Square Legal Services, Inc.).  They will also have primary responsibility for selecting clients and matters and structuring the overall design and goals of the clinic.

    In its current form, the highly successful Entrepreneurial Law Clinic provides pro bono transactional legal services to under-resourced entrepreneurs and small business owners and participates in community outreach to educate entrepreneurs about legal issues.  Students work with clients to form entities, structure incentive compensation for founders, protect clients' intellectual property rights, help clients build their workforce, as well as draft shareholder, operating, vendor, customer, lease and/or employment agreements.  We are open to candidates who wish to work within the Clinic’s current form as well as those who wish to advance their own distinctive vision of an Entrepreneurial Clinic at Fordham Law School.

    We welcome applications from all qualified candidates, including those applicants facing barriers to or who have been underserved by legal education and in the legal profession. The salary range for this job is $175,000-$290,000, dependent on experience. Any summer case coverage or research funding is in addition.

    Qualifications

    Candidates must hold a JD or its equivalent and be members of the New York Bar (or be eligible to seek membership as soon as reasonably possible after committing to join us). A period of at least three years of practice experience in transactional practice is preferred.
