    THE UNIVERSITY OF IDAHO COLLEGE OF LAW seeks to hire a tenure-track faculty member to direct its Entrepreneurship Law Clinic, which serves Idaho’s startup and small business community. Depending on the successful candidate’s expertise and qualifications, it may also operate as a USPTO Certified Trademark Clinic. The faculty member will be responsible for supervising the clinic, teaching one additional course on a related subject, mentoring and advising students, producing scholarship, and conducting community outreach.     WILLIAM & MARY LAW SCHOOL seeks a Director of Clinical Programs & Clinical Professor of Law to begin in Summer 2022. The Clinical Program Director for William & Mary Law School is responsible for managing a dynamic program currently composed of nine clinics and one policy center. The Director will report to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and will be a 12-month faculty with security of position or eligible for security of position (depending upon experience). The Director will be classified as a Clinical Professor of Law or Clinical Associate Professor of Law, depending upon experience. In addition to managing the clinical program, the Director will personally direct a clinic or center and teach a fall and spring clinical course. The Director will be responsible for maintaining a robust and diverse clinical program through supporting existing clinics and clinical faculty, developing new clinics as practicable, and setting strategic goals for the future of the clinical program and clinical faculty. The Director will be responsible for managing and supervising all aspects of clinical program administrative operations. The Director will direct communication and marketing for the clinical program and will develop and execute fundraising initiatives for the clinical program in partnership with the law school administration and through grant-writing efforts.

    ROGER WILLIAMS UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF LAW is soliciting applications for a Clinical Professor of Law who will serve as Director of the Corporate Counsel Clinical Externship Program and of the Prosecution & Government Clinical Externship Program. Experiential education is central to the law school’s mission and these popular programs support the law school’s guarantee that each qualified student can enroll in a significant clinical experience. The Director will be part of our experiential education team, which meets regularly and works collaboratively. The Director will identify and cultivate new placement opportunities while maintaining our wide array of successful placement sites. The Director will monitor student placements and teach the component seminar accompanying each program.

    Clinical Professors of Law participate in the governance of the School of Law and in committee work supporting that governance. A Clinical Professor of Law will generally be hired on a one year contract, followed upon renewal by a three year contract. After four years of successful teaching and service, a Clinical Professor of Law is eligible for five year presumptively renewable contracts.     THE UNIVRSITY OF ILLINOIS CHIGAGO SCHOOL OF LAW, Chicago’s only public law school, is seeking a Staff Attorney for the Community Enterprise & Solidarity Economy Clinic (CESEC).

    The CESEC represents worker-owned cooperative business, non-profit, or small business that operate for the benefit of underserved communities. CESEC clients often promote equity, practice democratic decision-making, and build sustainability in their neighborhoods.

    The Staff Attorney is responsible for representing clients in transactional and regulatory matters, creating informational materials, as well as conducting community workshops and education on topics related to business law or industry regulations with a focus of Social Equity Cannabis businesses and start-ups. The Staff Attorney will also supervise law students in the representation of clients.

    THE UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA SCHOOL OF LAW invites applications to fill a full-time clinical faculty position directing its Corporate Counsel Externship. The successful candidate will be hired into the law school’s clinical track, at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor or Clinical Associate Professor, based on qualifications (see https://provost.uga.edu/_resources/documents/Law-Clinical-PTU.pdf).     The Corporate Counsel Externship began in 2010 and is an integral component of the School of Law’s robust clinic program as well as its business law curriculum. The externship offers law students the opportunity to work in an in-house legal department on a part-time or full-time basis during the fall, spring, or summer semester.     The Director of the Corporate Counsel Externship manages the externship program and has both student supervisory and teaching responsibilities. In the supervisory role, the Director oversees the quality of supervision at externship placements and provides guidance and support for student externs. Teaching load includes weekly seminars for student externs with a focus on in-house practice, as well as 1-2 related business law courses per year in line with the School’s curricular needs and/or coach or assist with the negotiation and transactional advocacy teams. The law school’s clinical promotional track also calls for engagement in (widely defined) scholarly activities, regional and national discourse relevant to this clinical practice area, and law school / university service. 

    Applicants must have a J.D. from an ABA-accredited university, be licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, and have at least two years of practice experience. Preferred candidates will have prior experience in business law, preferably for a minimum of five years, including experience as an in-house counsel.     HARVARD LAW SCHOOL seeks applications for the Clinical Instructor position in its Predatory Lending and Consumer Protection Clinic. 

    The Clinical Instructor will play a key role—as teacher, supervisor, mentor, litigator, and strategic partner—in the operation of the Predatory Lending and Consumer Protection Clinic (“the Clinic”) at the Legal Services Center (LSC) of Harvard Law School.  The Clinic—through which Harvard Law students receive hands-on training in lawyering skills—provides free legal representation to low-income consumers in a variety of areas, including mortgage foreclosure defense, debt collection defense, and affirmative litigation.  The Clinic’s docket reflects a mix of individual representation cases, impact litigation, and policy initiatives.  We litigate cases in state and federal court and frequently partner with other leading consumer law organizations.  The Clinical Instructor will work closely with the Clinic Director and will collaborate often with other members of the LSC team.  This position represents a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic public interest and clinical teaching law office and to advocate creatively on behalf of consumers who have been exploited by predatory marketplace actors.  

    Job-Specific Responsibilities

    As a Clinical Instructor you will: 

    ·          teach, train, supervise, and mentor law students, 

    ·          collaborate with the Clinic director, and other members of the LSC team, in developing and updating the Clinic’s curriculum and training materials  

    ·          serve—within the framework of effective clinical pedagogy—as lead counsel or co-counsel in Clinic cases 

    ·          screen cases for merit and pedagogical value while helping to maintain the Clinic’s diverse docket through community and organizational partnerships 

    ·          work with the Clinic Director to engage in short-term and long-term planning for the Clinic and identify strategic opportunities that further the Clinic’s teaching and service missions 

    ·          recruit and supervise summer law interns, as needed 

    ·          contribute to the LSC community and participate in LSC committees and work groups, and support various administrative aspects of the Clinic’s functioning    

    Basic Qualifications

    Candidates must have earned a J.D. at least three years ago, have at least three years of relevant experience, and be admitted to the Massachusetts bar or eligible for temporary admission pursuant to Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court Rule 3:04.

    THE UNIVERSITY OF CONNECTICUT SCHOOL OF LAW seeks candidates for the position of Assistant Clinical Professor of Law to teach in its first-year Legal Practice Program (“LP Program”), commencing in fall of 2022.  The LP Program at UConn Law is an integrated three-term, seven-credit program that provides experiential training in legal writing, legal research, negotiation, interviewing, counseling and oral advocacy. 

    This position affords an opportunity to teach Legal Practice during the fall and spring semesters and interterms; to develop curriculum and assignments to advance students’ lawyering skills; to teach in a classroom setting; to teach through experiential, simulated lawyering exercises; and potentially to teach international students.  Although LP professors work collaboratively, each LP professor has discretion over the organization and management of their section of the LP course.
