    FORDHAM UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF LAW invites applicants for a clinical teaching fellow for its Entrepreneurial Law Program and Clinic. Founded in 2017, the Entrepreneurial Law Clinic (“ELC”) prepares students for transactional law practice by providing opportunities for them to advise startup companies and socially impactful ventures in the vibrant entrepreneurship ecosystem in New York City. The ELC is part of a larger entrepreneurial law program that combines a foundational curriculum in law and entrepreneurship with educational events, a podcast, community partnerships, and other curricular programming.

    In conjunction with the clinic director, the Fellow will teach in the ELC’s weekly seminar, supervise clinic students in their fieldwork, help manage the ELC’s community partnerships, and otherwise participate in the operation and development of the clinic. Additionally, the Fellow will help manage the Entrepreneurial Law Program’s activities and engage in fundraising.

    The Fellowship will be designed to support attorneys interested in exploring the possibility of a clinical teaching career. The Fellow will receive valuable clinical teaching experience, exposure to clinical pedagogy, and support for professional development and scholarship.

    The Fellowship will begin in January 2024 as a two-year appointment with a possible six-month extension.

    Candidates should have a minimum of three years of transactional law practice experience in at least one of the ELC’s primary practice areas—business law, employment law, and intellectual property. Relevant experience in public interest transactional lawyering, such as representing low-income entrepreneurs or social entrepreneurs, is desirable. Candidates should also have a strong interest in clinical teaching and the potential for scholarship and success as a clinical teacher. Candidates must have a J.D. degree and be admitted to the New York bar (or eligible to seek admission as soon as reasonably possible after committing to join us).

    The annual base salary range for this position is $75,000 - $75,000.

    NORTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF LAW's Center for Law, Equity and Race is seeking a clinical fellow for the Civil Rights & Restorative Justice Project. 

    About the Opportunity

    The Civil Rights & Restorative Justice Project (CRRJ), housed at the Northeastern University School of Law’s Center for Law, Equity and Race (CLEAR), is the premier academic program in the country examining current racial inequities through the lens of history and seeking creative reparative justice. CRRJ investigates, publicizes, and remediates historical cases of racially motivated violence. It has built the most comprehensive archive in the country on these matters. Founded in 2007, CRRJ’s project is unique in its combination of rigorous research and community engagement. CRRJ’s mission is to: (1) expand the on-line archive on racial violence during the Jim Crow era; (2) train civil and human rights lawyers through curricular offerings and advising; (3) design national, state and local reparative projects and training materials; (4) serve as a clearinghouse for legislative and non-governmental policymakers in the field of historical injustice; and (5) support innovative research on historical racial violence, criminal justice reform, and reparative justice.

    The Elizabeth Zitrin Justice Fellow is a clinical fellowship that offers opportunities for professional development in the fields of civil rights, criminal justice, and restorative justice. The Fellow teaches and mentors law students, develops courses and course material and contributes to advocacy-oriented programs and projects.

    The Elizabeth Zitrin Clinical Fellow supports CRRJ’s on-going academic, governmental, and community-based projects. The work includes but is not limited to:

    • Teaching seminars
    • Working closely with students on research, law and policy analysis, and lawyering skills
    • Training governmental employees, researchers, lawyers, and advocates in the field of racial justice, criminal justice, and historical injustice

    Under the supervision of Faculty Directors Margaret Burnham and Rose Zoltek-Jick, the Fellow helps to execute CRRJ’s program and expand its work. As part of the Northeastern University community, the Fellow is encouraged to take advantage of a range of academic seminars and programs, and to become fully integrated into the intellectual community of the School of Law, attending faculty colloquia and similar events, and interacting with faculty and auditing courses. The Fellow have the opportunity to develop teaching skills, academic scholarship, and litigation skills.

    Responsibilities:

    1) Manage CRRJ Clinic and Students:

    • Supervise students handling CRRJ cases on a day-to-day basis
    • Help improve students’ lawyering skills, legal research and writing, factual research and interviewing
    • Review student drafts, prepare students for oral presentations, and assist students with case development
    • An active participant in all clinic activities, including case rounds and seminars.
    • Develop appropriate cases for the clinic, and handle the caseload when the clinic is over.

    2) Managing CRRJ Docket and Programs:

    • Conduct legal research and pursue appropriate legal remedies to respond to the needs of CRRJ constituents, including families and communities.
    • Work closely with lawyers and researchers on civil rights and criminal justice issues


    Qualifications:

    Required Qualifications:

    Licensed to practice law in a US jurisdiction with one to three years of experience working in civil rights or criminal justice litigation, government practice, or academic research.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    The successful candidate will have outstanding academic credentials; a demonstrated interest in civil rights, racial justice, criminal justice, or restorative justice; strong oral and written communication skills; strong skills and appetite for research; excellent work ethic; time management skills; ability to work independently and on multiple projects simultaneously in diverse legal areas.     Vanderbilt University Law School seeks applicants for a full-time clinical faculty position to direct an Innocence Clinic at the law school, beginning July 2024.     STETSON UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF LAW is seeking a Distinguished Professorial Lecturer for the academic year (2024-2025) from the clinical or larger experiential community for a one-year visiting faculty position to cover the administrative and teaching duties of the Director of Clinical and Experiential Education while the current director is on sabbatical.

    Stetson’s long history of clinic and externship courses are well-established and known in the community, which include two on-campus clinics, the Veterans Advocacy Clinic and the Jacobs Environmental and Democratic Justice Clinic overseen by two fulltime faculty. Our seven off-campus field clinics place students in prosecutor, public defender, local government and legal aid offices and are overseen by adjunct clinical faculty. In these placements, students learn through full client representation. Our nineteen externship courses are uniquely structured and overseen by fulltime faculty members who have studied or practiced in the subject area and who regularly meet with students enrolled in the externships and communicate with field placement supervisors.

    The Distinguished Professorial Lecturer will work within the Department of Clinical and Experiential Education and coordinate with the Director to oversee administrative duties and course offerings. The administrative duties include oversight of the student application and selection process to include programming, marketing, and informational sessions, fielding student questions, and communicating with professors, the registrar office, and community partners. Duties include coordinating clinic and externship orientation, oversight of onboarding materials, mid-semester and end-of-the-semester assessment, and reading reflective journals. The teaching responsibilities include a weekly general skills externship course and other roundtable discussions relevant to specific clinic courses.

    Applicants should have a strong understanding of ABA standards relevant to experiential education. An applicant should have teaching experience in experiential course work and administrative oversight of either clinics or externships. The successful candidate will engage the clinic and externship faculty in a learning space to discuss curricular compliance and innovation in experiential education, essentially to study and enhance student engagement and learning.

    Working closely with the other experiential faculty, the Lecturer and Clinical Instructor will teach and supervise law students engaged in direct representation of clients. This search is for a two-year non-tenure track Lecturer and Clinical Instructor position with opportunity for renewal contingent on performance and ongoing funding. The projected start date is July 1, 2024.

    Required Skills

    The ideal candidate for this position is either an existing member of the Massachusetts bar or a member of another state’s bar who can waive into the Massachusetts bar. Also, the ideal candidate possesses at least three years of experience representing academically-oriented or very-early-stage business clients on issues related to intellectual property and related areas of law. Candidates with fewer years’ experience may be considered.

    The hired faculty member will be responsible for teaching in the clinic’s seminar on topics related to effective lawyering skills and substantive law, providing supervision to law students on a broad range of related topics, engaging with broader policy issues in the field of intellectual property; and participating actively in the administration of the Clinic’s law practice. Candidates should have proven experience and strong research and writing skills and should work well as part of a team. Important qualities include outstanding interpersonal skills, adept management of a large client docket with varying needs and issues, and a passion for work with creative and innovative clients. The ability to work sensitively with a diverse population of clients, students, and staff is essential.

    Experience working with academics, non-profits, and advocacy organizations and experience working in litigation, dispute resolution, and regulatory compliance issues are pluses for consideration. Experience with clinical pedagogy is also preferred. Teaching and supervision experience are not required, though they may be given great value in the process.

    Position Description Summary:  

    George Washington University Law School seeks   applications for a clinical fellowship in       the Family Justice Litigation        Clinic,  beginning on July 1, 2024. The Fellow will  have the title of Visiting Associate Professor of Clinical Law. Fellows receive an annual stipend, health insurance, tuition benefits, and other benefits associated with a full-time position at      GW.     

               

    Specific Duties and Responsibilities:                 

    The Fellow will be based in  the Family Justice Litigation Clinic but may also teach and           supervise in the Family Law Division of the Access to Justice Clinic. The Clinics         represent clients in domestic relations and domestic violence matters    and seek to     address and enhance access to justice generally. Friedman Fellows supervise law     students and  teach   in the  classroom alongside  experienced clinical faculty.                      

               

    Throughout their time in residence, Fellows receive support and guidance in teaching and supervising law students and in producing scholarship for publication.         The program  provides Fellows with mentorship and support from the   faculty and administration and        resources to enter the full-time teaching market in clinical and        doctrinal positions. Fellows are also integrated into the   full-time faculty and invited     to attend all scholarly presentations, faculty meetings, and to join the faculty of GW’s award-winning first-year        Inns of Court Program which focuses on community-building, professional identity formation, and career development.                      

                           

    We currently seek applications from candidates with strong academic  and lawyering  experience. A competitive applicant will have relevant experience in family law,          domestic violence law, access to justice work; teaching; and/or related public        interest litigation and/or criminal law litigation. We particularly seek        applicants who took a clinic in law school  and who have an interest in law school teaching. Fellows will be hired on a 12month contract and will be eligible for renewal after the first year.

               

               

               

               

    Minimum Qualifications:              

    J.D.; at  least three years practice experience especially in legal services, litigation,       domestic violence law, family law,           criminal defense or prosecution; commitment to  serving individuals from under-represented communities; strong written and      oral      advocacy skills; excellent time management, priority-setting, and organizational skills;  strong interpersonal skills,   flexibility, and demonstrated ability  to work well both      independently and as part of a team. Fellows must be members in good standing of     a          state bar. Candidates who are not members of the D.C. Bar must be eligible for immediate waiver into the D.C.        Bar.
