THE UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA SCHOOL OF LAW seeks applicants for a Clinical Director and Assistant/Associate Professor of Clinical Legal Instruction in one of two disciplines—Transactional or Appellate. The position is for a clinical faculty appointment with opportunity for promotion and security of position. We seek applications from entry-level and lateral candidates with demonstrated potential for outstanding law practice, clinical education, and scholarly achievement. The successful applicant may serve as the Director for a new Transactional Clinic. The Director will oversee and/or conduct all phases of legal advocacy for clinic clients, teach and supervise clinic students, and manage law clinic staff. The Clinic will offer students the opportunity to acquire skills important to their professional development while representing not-for-profit entities, community development organizations, and social services groups.

In the alternative, the successful applicant may serve as the Director for a new Appellate Law Clinic. The Director will oversee and/or conduct all phases of legal advocacy for clinic clients, teach and supervise clinic students, and manage law clinic staff. The Clinic will offer students the opportunity to acquire skills important to their professional development while representing clients in both civil and criminal cases before the Alabama Court of Civil Appeals, Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals, Alabama Supreme Court, and 11th Circuit Court of Appeals.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: J.D. degree from an ABA accredited law school, a distinguished academic record, and experience as a clinical teacher or practicing lawyer. Candidates must be licensed to practice law in Alabama or become licensed no later than one year after accepting the position.
