They also teach upper-level writing courses, and the successful candidate will be expected to help design and implement the program’s upper-level writing curriculum. TULANE UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF LAW seeks highly qualified applicants for a full-time professor of practice position leading its newly created Immigrants’ Rights Clinic. The position would begin during the 2020-21 academic year, starting on July 1, 2020, and would be on the non-tenured faculty track, with an initial appointment of three years.

The candidate who fills the position will have primary responsibility for developing the new Immigrants’ Rights Clinic; engaging in case selection, litigation, and other advocacy to promote the clinic's mission and goals; supervising clinic students in all aspects of the clinic’s work; teaching a related seminar course; and leading development efforts in support of the clinic.

NORTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF LAW invites applications for the Michael and Mary Schuette Clinical Fellowship in Health and Human Rights, beginning September 1, 2019, in the Bluhm Legal Clinic’s Center for International Human Rights, with a particular focus on the work of the Northwestern Access to Health Project. The Michael and Mary Schuette Fellow will have a unique opportunity to gain extensive training and experience in global health, human rights law and economic development, as well as clinical legal teaching.

The Schuette Fellow will work on issues related to global health, human rights and development as they pertain to ongoing community global health work in Nigeria, Botswana, China, India and Lebanon, as well as other potential sites.  A demonstrated interest in global health law, international human rights, and fluency in French and/or Spanish is preferred. The Program Director will advise and oversee the administration of CWSL’s student-run Moot Court Honors Board (MCHB), oversee the teaching of CWSL’s competitive advocacy courses, assist in managing and providing logistical support for all of CWSL’s trial, appellate, and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) teams, and administer and manage all budgets associated with the Competitive Advocacy Program. ALBANY LAW SCHOOL seeks a Staff Attorney to join the Community Development Clinic. The Community Development Clinic delivers a clinical experience for law students interested in business and transactional practice, exposing them to the legal needs of small businesses and nonprofit organizations.

The Community Development Clinic provides brief advice, advocacy assistance, popular education, and full legal representation to start-up entrepreneurs and not-for-profit organizations from underrepresented and excluded communities in isolated urban and rural areas.  The Clinic provides assistance on a broad range of transactional and business law matters related to small business development including entity formation, contracts, commercial leases, real estate transactions, securities, tax, and intellectual property.

In addition to representing clients, students in the Clinic participate in a weekly seminar addressing substantive legal issues related to fieldwork projects.  The seminar involves skills development components including interviewing, client counseling, and transactional lawyering-focused skills, such as negotiation, and drafting contracts, leases, and other business-related documents.

The Staff Attorney’s responsibilities include representing clients, engaging in community outreach, supervising students, collaborating with community partners, assisting with the Clinic seminar and simulated learning activities, and other tasks related to carrying out the Clinic’s mission. 

Qualification Standards:

·        Candidates must be admitted to practice in New York prior to employment.

·        Qualified candidates will possess at least four (4) years, or the equivalent, of experience representing and counseling small businesses/ nonprofits.

·        Experience in a particular area of business law, such as securities, tax, intellectual property, or a related area, as well as with business planning a plus.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University seeks a Clinical Instructor to join our Cyberlaw Clinic team. The position reports to the Managing Director of the Harvard Law School Cyberlaw Clinic, which is based at the Berkman Klein Center.

The Clinical Instructor's primary responsibility will be to supervise, manage, mentor, and teach Harvard Law School students enrolled in the Clinic as they represent clients in a variety of challenging matters, including in the areas of intellectual property, digital civil liberties, privacy and security, new media and online speech, government innovation, and online safety.

The substance of the Clinical Instructor's work will vary from matter to matter, but may include overseeing students in their counselling of clients, drafting of contracts, licenses and other transactional documents, preparation of amicus briefs, comments and other filings, and support for policy advocacy efforts.

The Clinical Instructor will meet regularly with students to direct and supervise their work, observe students in client interactions, review students' written and other work product, provide regular and detailed feedback to students on their projects and performance, deliver instruction in basic legal skills and Internet-related practice, and ensure professional, high-quality representation of Clinic clients.

The Clinical Instructor will help develop new Cyberlaw Clinic cases and clients consistent with the Instructor's own areas of interest and expertise, and maintain relationships with the Clinic's existing clients and external partners. They will also assist the Managing Director and Assistant Director with the administration of the Clinic's practice and teaching operations, and the alignment of the Clinic's work with its core values, including promotion of a robust and inclusive online ecosystem for free expression the advancement of diversity and mitigation of the impact of bias in tech development and tech policy advocacy for open government and support for cultural production through balanced regulatory and enforcement regimes.

The Clinical Instructor will be part of the intellectual community at the Berkman Center and will have the opportunity to attend workshops and conferences at the Center and at Harvard Law School and will have frequent opportunities to expand their knowledge of technology and law.
